Our senior in-house carpenters are experts in their craft, delivering meticulous attention to detail. While directors Chris Curtain and Stuart McFarland bring over 50 years of experience between them.

We take on a limited number of builds at any one time, enabling Chris and Stuart to oversee each project.

Driven by a pursuit for perfection and commitment to exceeding expectations, the team proudly delivers not just iconic Melbourne properties, but a new benchmark in homes of exceptional quality.

Chris Curtain

Director

Chris Curtain, co-founder of Fortem Projects, is an accredited builder with over 20 years of experience. His career started as an apprentice carpenter in Melbourne, evolving to include commercial construction of varied projects including multi-residential buildings and a mausoleum. Chris is committed to excellence, combining top-notch service with a focus on efficiency and cost management. Beyond his professional life, he is a family man, supporting his kids’ sports and enjoying golf, running, and supporting his favourite football team, the Blues.

Stuart McFarland

Director

Stuart, co-founder of Fortem Projects, boasts a 30-year career starting with restoring heritage-listed buildings in Ireland. He launched his own carpentry business before moving to Australia in 2008, where he established a commercial carpentry company that expanded to over 30 carpenters. Meeting Chris led to founding Fortem Projects in 2016, combining their skills for innovative construction. As construction manager, Stuart mentors upcoming carpenters, ensuring craftsmanship endures. Offsite, he enjoys family time, outdoor adventures, and camping with friends.
